Joseph E. Martin, MD, FACOG

Dr. Martin is a highly trained Reproductive Endocrinologist who is part of the team at the Fertility Center of San Antonio, a participating provider in the WINFertility Network.

Education and Certification

Dr. Martin received his bachelor’s degree in zoology from the University of Texas in Austin and his medical degree from the University of Texas in Galveston.  He completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, TX and his fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio.

He is double-board-certified in Reproductive Endocrinology/Infertility and Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Experience:

Over 30 years ago, Dr. Martin formed the Fertility Center of San Antonio and is the Medical Director.  The Fertility Center of San Antonio was one of the first programs in the country to be office-based, and had the first IVF with ICSI pregnancy in the Southwest.

Dr. Martin is currently on the faculty at the University of Texas Health Science Center.  He previously served as the Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Methodist Hospital where he helped form the fertility program and served as its medical director for 4 years.

He is a member of numerous scientific societies including the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, the Society of Reproductive Endocrinology and is a Fellow of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.  Dr. Martin has been published in various peer-reviewed journals including the New England Journal of Medicine, the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Fertility and Sterility and The Journal of Reproductive Medicine.

He is a native Texan and a retired Captain in the United States Air Force.
