Kamini says she enjoys being part of the team at WIN that helps to create families and healthy babies. She has more than eight years of experience as an IVF nurse, as an RN IVF Coordinator at the Center for Women’s Reproductive Care at Columbia University and as a senior staff IVF nurse at New York University Fertility Center.
Kamini is a registered nurse with a bachelor’s degree from the Hunter Bellevue School of Nursing in New York. Even though the process of fertility treatment is clinical and scientific, Kamini says the potential for miraculous outcomes gives her hope. She has been moved by how her patients cope with the ups and downs of fertility treatment.
“At the last fertility clinic where I worked I had the privilege to meet a couple from Italy,” she said. “They had been to another country to do IVF and had numerous failed cycles. They then came to the US to explore their options, while being on a waiting list for adoption. While here, they underwent a few IVF cycles. Although they did have a few disappointments, today they are the proud parents of twin girls. I truly admired the hope that always remained and how gracefully they handled disappointments. They found strength in each other.”
Kamini sees that WIN benefits patients by providing options to relieve the financial stress of IVF. “WIN gives patients options, especially self pay patients,” she says. “Going through the process can be stressful at times, and giving patients options to help relieve some of the financial burden is a great benefit.”
Through her experience Kamini has learned the importance for patients of having a strong support system. “There are times when situations can be overwhelming and having emotional support is important,” she says. “Every patient should know that WIN is part of that support team. Sometimes all a patient needs is someone to simply listen to what they are going through.” Kamini is engaged to be married and is currently planning her wedding. She is extremely excited and looking forward to this new chapter in her life.
